i want a 5D Mark II

But, not bad enough to pay more than $1,000.00 over list price...as I'm seeing by some resellers. Most, notably, BuyAccessories on Amazon. That's pretty clear price gouging in my book - Canon MSRP is 2699 and BuyAccessories is charging 3895. I had a chance to get one from B&H before the holidays. I was leaving town the next day so I didn't place the order. Now, I can't get back on the list to be notified when they are back in stock. So...the wait continues, bah humbug, merry christmas to me.

I'm on the edge with regards to pulling the trigger on the "kit". but, it seems like waits are going to be fairly long so i may not be able to resist. ;)

mitch, i've been keeping tabs on that url you gave me earlier - every place I've checked is backordered on bodies but a few do have the kits.

anyone have the 24-105 f4/L lens? likes/dislikes?

i got the 24-105L on with the original 5d kit in May and love it... some people prefer the 24-70, but the 24-105L gets lots of accolades as well. I may be growing into other lenses eventually. I did buy the 85 f1.8 as well but tend to use it sparingly due to its fixed length... the 24-105 is my walk around lens.

I also have the 24-105. I love the range and IS. Very sharp lens.

I have the 24-70 but I've stopped using it in favor of my 35L. The 24-70 is HUGE, and very heavy, and lacks IS. The f/2.8 is nice, but if you really care about large aperture, might as well go prime. I should have gotten the 24-105.

how's the 24-105 weight/size wise in a small bag - e.g. briefcase, laptop bag, etc. i stopped lugging around the 24-70 for the same reasons as Garry it seems - size and weight.

great lens - just massive, in both respects, for a walk-around lens. my 'laptop bag' rig these days is a 5d sans grip and either the 16-35 or a 50.
